Mila woke up with Christian still asleep in her arms. When they got home, he stayed up reminiscing on all of the adventures that he went on with Gigi Nitta and his brother Darrius. At the end of the evening, he asked for his mother to lay with him so she obliged. Mila pulled herself from the bed and was met with Black and Brooklyn’s eyes peering down on her.

“Mommy, why are you sleeping in Christian’s bed?” Brooklyn questioned from the door.

“Your brother had a rough night baby,” Mila answered and walked over to her husband and daughter. “I’m sure that he’s still tired so let him sleep.”

“But me and daddy just finished eating our breakfast and we bought you guys breakfast too,” Brooklyn whined.

“Girl, hush up all of that whining,” Mila rolled her eyes.

“Come on Brooklyn, we talked about that attitude earlier this morning,” Black chimed in.

“Ughhhh! Okay,” Brooklyn huffed before she marched into her room.

“I’m so tired of your princess and her attitude,” Mila huffed.

“Leave my baby alone,” Black giggled.

“I’m not laughing. The shit is starting to get out of hand.”

“Just eat the breakfast my baby brought you,” Black pushed the to-go carton from First Watch across the counter where Mila climbed up on the stool. “How was Christian before he went to sleep?”

“He just wanted to talk about Ms. Nitta so I allowed him to talk. He isn’t as emotional as he was when his dad died, but I want to get him back into grief counseling. Ughhhh, my boy has been through enough,” Mila teared up.

“We are going to get through this just like we got through things when Christopher died.”

“I know baby, but it’s just hard. Charlie called me twice last night but I didn’t bother to answer.”

“Why not?”

“I didn’t want to hear shit the trashy ass lady had to say in the middle of the night.”

“You should’ve answered to see what she wanted. I know that she didn’t speak with Ms. Nitta, but do you know if she ever speaks with Darrius’ mother?”

“I don’t know and I don’t care,” Mila snapped.

After the emotional rollercoaster that the entire family endured yesterday, the last thing she wanted to do was sit here and talk about Charlie, the deadbeat grandmother, and Laura, the kidnapper who happened to be Darrius’ mom.

“Don’t start snapping on me and shit. I’m just asking.”

“Well since you just asking questions, now it’s my turn. What’s going on? Why the fuck were all of those police outside of our house talking to Mason during your birthday party?”

“Some shit you don’t need to worry about.”

“Is there something y’all aren’t telling us? First, the police at the party. Then yesterday, you guys were all hands on deck at the legit office with Uncle Melvin also in attendance? Make it make sense, Black! Either something is going on or something is going on and I need to know now. Hell, I deserve to know!”

“It isn’t anything that you need to worry about and lower your voice with our god damn kids in the house.
